The FD-CF reactions interact the senses of sight, smell, and contact with outputs that produce fluorescence, fragrances, and hydrogels, respectively. We introduce elements that can teach tunable protein expression, enzymatic reactions, biomaterial formation, and biosensors using RNA switches, some of which symbolize authentic FD-CF outputs that broaden the toolbox of cell-free artificial biology. The BioBits™ Explorer package permits arms-on demonstrations of cutting-edge science that are inexpensive and straightforward to use, circumventing many current obstacles for implementing exploratory biology experiments in school rooms.

While quite a few chemistry and physics classroom demonstrations exist, few biology demonstrations are practical and accessible because of the challenges and considerations of growing dwelling cells in classrooms.
